General Dental Hygiene

Oral Exams and Cleanings

Oral Exams are an important part of maintaining your oral health. During your regular exam we will:

  • Check for any problems that you may not see or feel
  • Look for cavities or any other signs of tooth decay
  • Inspect your teeth and gums for gingivitis and signs of periodontal disease
  • Provide a thorough teeth cleaning

Your oral exam and cleaning can take from 40 – 60 minutes. Each oral exam includes a detailed teeth cleaning, in which a hygenist will clean, polish, and rinse your teeth to remove any tartar and plaque that has built up on the tooth’s surface.

Visiting our office every six months gives you the chance to ask and receive answers for any questions you may have about your oral health. Oral Exams are offered by appointment only, so please contact our office today to schedule your next dental exam and teeth cleaning.

General, Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry

If you are in need of extensive dental work, Pignataro Dental can competently handle even the most complex cases at either of our convenient offices. From crowns and dental implants to full or partial dentures, you can be sure that the doctors of Pignataro Dental will be able to apply exactly the right dental technology to restore your mouth to full health and function.

Dental Implants

Dental implants restore one or more missing teeth. Tooth implants provide the same anchoring support of a natural tooth root, and are topped by an artificial tooth that looks like your surrounding teeth. Dental implants are one of the most successful restorative and cosmetic dental procedures.

Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain dental crowns are artificial teeth that are carefully shaped and colored to match your natural teeth. Crowns, also known as ‘caps,’ restore functionality to severely damaged teeth. Each dental crown is made of a durable porcelain material that offers chewing support and protection from further tooth decay when placed over the existing damaged tooth.

Dental Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth-like ceramic shells that adhere to the front of your teeth. Veneers restore misaligned, cracked, chipped, and discolored teeth. Prepless veneers offer the same aesthetic results, but require less preparatory shaving of the natural tooth enamel.

Bonding

Dental bonding is an ideal restorative solution for teeth that are slightly chipped or cracked. An enamel-like resin is adhered and sculpted to the front of the damaged tooth, covering up the chip or crack.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are a common restoration procedure used to fill the space of one or more missing teeth. Whether supported by a dental implant or a partial denture, a dental bridge restores functionality and appearance to your smile with an artificial tooth.

Dental Fillings

One of the most common restorative procedures, dental fillings repair decay and cracks in teeth. Routine dental checkups are important so we can detect and restore these slightly damaged teeth.

Root Canals

Before root canals became readily available, often the only option to resolve an issue with a deeply infected tooth was to have the tooth extracted. Thankfully, modern dental technology allows for many tooth infections to be treated with root canal therapy to help get your oral health back on track and provide tooth pain relief.

Dentures

Dentures are a popular option for patients who have lost some or all of their natural teeth. We make custom dentures that precisely fit the patient’s mouth and provide excellent comfort and functionality. Partial dentures are an option for patients who have lost only some of their teeth. Partial dentures are strong and are adequate replacements for missing teeth. When properly fitted, the dentures are almost impossible to distinguish from natural teeth. For people who have lost all of their teeth, full dentures are ideal. With full dentures supported by dental implants, patients can have a new full set of teeth. Implant-supported full dentures restore the ability to eat favorite foods, and to speak and laugh comfortably.

Teeth Whitening

As you well know, you only get one chance to make a first impression. A beautiful, warm smile portrays self confidence, an essential quality for building personal relationships and making advancements in your career. Teeth whitening is extremely popular and for good reason … it gives your smile that extra something special and also reinforces a positive self image.

Periodontal (gum) Treatment

If you suffer from gum disease — a bacterial infection of the tissues that surround your teeth — we can help. Untreated gum disease can cause you to lose teeth in severe cases. Not only that, scientific evidence points to a link between gum disease and other health problems, such as cardiovascular (heart) disease and diabetes. The type of care you need will depend on the severity of your condition.

Dental Extractions

Deterioration of teeth eventually leads to loss of smile, the ability to eat, and frequent toothaches with pain and temperature sensitivity to both hot and cold. Sweet and acidic foods cannot be tolerated. Sleep and rest are compromised. The quality of life deteriorates. Teeth that are too badly deteriorated and decayed and damaged are sometimes beyond repair. At such times these bad teeth with advanced problems are removed. Extraction of single or multiple teeth  are done in a comfortable and safe environment.

Teeth Grinding (Bruxism)

Bruxism is a condition in which you clench and grind your teeth. This can begin in young children and will continue on into adulthood. This can lead to the wearing away of enamel, leading to unsightly short teeth, root canals, and other more expensive procedures down the road. Bruxism can also cause major problems with headaches and neck pain. A common misconception is that tooth grinding is only related to stress. Bruxism is caused by many factors and can wax and wane with stress, but it is always there. Our dentists can have a special night guard appliance fabricated and fitted ideally to the patients bite. When worn at night, this prevents further damage to the teeth and can help alleviate head and neck pain.

Snoring

Our dentists  are available to help you tackle sleep disorders such as sleep apnea and snoring — which can disrupt your life and cause more serious problems if not diagnosed and treated properly. Pignataro Dental can offer you several safe and effective solutions to relieve snoring and mild obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep Apnea and snoring  can be potentially serious disorders, causing breathing to stop and start during sleep. Our dentists can provide you with safe and effective options to reduce or eliminate these frustrating and dangerous issues.
